John has been a speaker for historical societies, community groups, writers conferences, and schools.
He is available to speak on topics related to Missouri history including the state symbols, French settlement in Missouri, Missouri agricultural history, and the drainage of the southeast Missouri lowlands. Additional speaking topics feature food history, military food history, and folklore.
He has also presented workshops at writers conferences on such topics as query letters, selling magazine articles, and photography.
